4 sided strop question

I am building a 4 sided strop. I have a 1 1/2" square X18"long piece of Osage Orange that I am going to turn a handle on and mount 4 pieces of `1.5"X12" leather on each side. How would you put the leather on? I am thinking 2 with the flesh side out for the coarse and medium compound and 2 with the hardened side out for the fine compound and the plain leather?

Or should I just put the flesh side down (hard side out) on all 4?
