Sorry guys, these are the only photos that came out. They look sort of rough because they where taken before cleaning up or painting the rig. But I will have more detailed and better quality pictures on my web site in a couple of days!!!!!!!! I promise!

Please understand that this hammer is a first prototype and every piece of it is scrap I was able to dig up. The ones I have built since and sold are much better looking. This hammer was built for $57.00.

Pretty damn innovative!! Looks very space efficient too.

this rig really pounds. Pulverises 2x4s in about 5 blows. Shakes the walls and would pulverise the shop floor is set up incorectly. Saves a lot of effort and work.

Those parts are used?! :p Reminds me of my old 58 Ford, was'nt the best looking but never let me down...gpood job!

Well that's just neat as it can be. What kind of tranny is it. I've got 2 hp baldor just itching to be motorizin' something. I wonder if a riding lawn mower tranny would work?

I want some plans for that little jewel! I could use one of those for my limited space shop!

57 bucks to build form scraps....I would give 25 for paper plans for building one!

Cool Beans Man!

Doc,
I will be offering plans for $50.00 and full phone support would be included.

If you will go to my website you will find a video clip of the hammer in operation on the power hammer page.

Mark,

The transmission came out of a ford 2 ton. It weighs in at 200 + pounds. I don’t know how the lawnmower trans would work out.

You have to post a link to your website if you want to see the first 50 bucks come in! I am liking that more and more.

Personally I would say the 4 speed would be ok. But I can buy 3 vehicle transmissions for the cost of one of those units.

The video shows up in Linux as a quicktime movie, and at this point I don't have the plugins loaded to be able to view it.

I am still impressed with that little wonder, and was curious as to how well the various gears in the tranny worked with it. Can you shift up to a more rapid bump on the fly?

I was thinking about building a treadle hammer till I saw this little wonder. I got more that a few uses for that......

You can download a free real time player to view the video. The hammer works great. I do my initial welds in second and then upshift to 3rd for finish welding. I like 4th for drawing out. Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

There is now a buy it now button on my site for the purchase of plans or the hammer.

50 bucks for the plans.....howmuch for the hammer? Seems like at a couple to a few hundred bucks it would be very much worth it.

That tranny will never wear out....seems like that setup should be virtually bulletproof for the major working parts. How big is that motor driving it?

I am not using Microsoft so Apple won't write anything for my OS. I will look at it another day.

That is a real bargain in my opinion at $750.
