Hey all, I'm looking for a new fixed blade. I've done quite a bit of searching but haven't found anything that meets my needs. Maybe you guys can help me out. Here's what I'm looking for.

Around 4" blade length
High quality stainless steel (no coatings)
Removable handle scales

The handle scales are kind of a big deal for me. I like to be able to remove them for cleaning purposes as well as install custom scales if I choose. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

You could always strip the coating off an ESEE 4...

I think BRKT (Bark River) has a few knives that meet your requirements, though.

ESEE is coming out with a stainless ESEE4 in a few months - sounds like it will meet all your criteria of you can wait until June.
other than that, maybe HK?
or a custom.

Entrek Knives. Entrek Knives. Did I tell you to check out Entrek? :D
Sorry, what was the name of the brand again? ;)

In addition to the production knives already mentioned, you might look into a custom. There are quite a few makers here who do superb fixed blade work at very affordable prices.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've got an ESEE 4 and I stripped the coating. I was just looking for a stainless blade because I have plenty of carbon steel blades.

A stainless ESEE 4 sounds pretty interesting. Any word on which steel they're using?

I'll also check out Entrek.

Here is my Entrek Javalina, good edge retention and tough as hell. Thick stock and handles appear to be removable but never tried. Kydex sheath with clip.

what about a spyderco mule? they don't come with a handle and i believe the CTS-BD1 steel (stainless) is still available.
