This one made me very happy ! Given how stressed I've been lately, I got a very pleasant surprise, while cleaning the workshop. I found this 95% finished blade that I forged, HT-ed & finished with a batch of 5-6 other blades almost 6months ago. It had dropped behind my workbench into a tray other materials.

It took 5minutes of work with ferric chloride & 1500grit paper to finish it up. Here it is - 4" hollowground blade, forged from an old Nicholson file (Probably sim. to W1 or 1095), then stock removed, hamon, yoroi-toshi spine. Wrapped de-cored 550 OD paracord over emu leg skin with a gold plated menuki.

Back to basics Jason Cutter piece. Whatdo you guys think ? Jason.

Yeah! that one comes closest! Love the spine treatment (don't know the exact term) as it reminds me of the old Cold Steel model with that spine style and blade tip style - the Outdoorsman? Anyway, both the CS and yours come close to an old aikuchi style blade I saw a long time ago, and then fell in love with the overall grace of the visual flow... I still liked it even after I read some of the history on it's developement...

Nice work again, Jason! :D

Jason, that is a really great design. I agree about the spine...it looks perfect.

The ONLY thing I would change, if I had made the knife myself, is the area right where the sharpened edge begins. I just looks a little off to me. But I'd be proud to own that knife. great work.

You say "for the show" ...Which show?
I just checked and didn't see your name in the listed tableholders at Blade. I hope you have a table...I'd love to get to see and maybe buy some of your work.

Awesome! My expert opinion is that is one beautiful spine! Ha ha! I "crack" myself up! :D Beautiful work, Jason, as always!

ROTFLMAO (Rolling on the floor, laughing ... you know the rest...) :D :D ... But I have seen some others that needed some adjustment... Probably including my own ! ;) :D Hmmm, maybe some filework would help ? :D

Shappa, sadly, I have not got myself organised enough to even leave the country (Australia) yet for any shows. The show I refer to is the Inaugural Australian Knifemakers Guild Show held here in Melbourne, Australia. Its the biggest Aussie show and it'll be my 4th knife show and hopefully I'll actually get there on time for the first time.

Nitin, point taken, I will clean that little detail up before the knife show. I'll cut a notch in to define the cutting edge.

Thanks, all for the feedback. Jason.

Jason,

I'd love to see an "after" picture of the knife.
