Since so many people on this forum just couldn't shut up about Case's Chrome Vanadium Steel
, I simply had to try it for myself. http://www.flickr.com/photos/47188396@N06/sets/72157625411370913/
What you see is all earned. I used the main blade and kept the pen blade unused. The tip of the main blade kept hitting the backspring, so it took awhile for me to get a proper edge along the whole blade. I was also experimenting with different lubricants.
Long story short, I HATE TufGlide for my slipjoints. I do a lot of food prep at home, so it was readily exposed to apples, tomatoes, garlic, onions, and celery. All in all, I've think I've found my new favorite blade steel. It responds well to stropping and holds an edge with the best of them. And it's affordable too.
So much that I just ordered a CV Mini Trapper just so I can cut my apples with confidence. Thanks for looking, take care.
