4" x 6" bandsaw question?

I have a mid 80's Enco 4"x6" metal bandsaw. It uses a 64-1/2" x 1/2" blade. I bought it used over 20 years ago and I have not used it in a looong time. I pulled it out of the corner today.

Are the 2 metal wheels supposed to to have rubber tires on them like my wood bandsaw?

I looked up manuals from several different brands and do not see any on them as a separate part number. TIA!!

If you're talking about the two metal wheels the blade rides on, I can't say for sure because I don't have an Enco but if I recall my has a thin rubber strip on the wheels. Something like weather strip for front doors that is sticky on one side and thin rubber or foam on the other would probably work. Might call Enco and see what they say.

No, no rubber tires.

Try grizzly, they write good manuals.

MY HF 4X6 (same saw different paint) does not have any rubber on the wheels.

We have a metal cutting DoAll bandsaw at work and it has rubber on both the wheels. I know because I had to weld and install a new blade just yesterday.

My Chinese 4 X 6 from Grizzly doesn't have rubber tires.

neather of the 4x6s i had came with tires on the wheels how ever my roll in saw has rubber on both (matter of fact ineed to replace the bottom tire)

So it looks like the small cheap saws don't, but the bigger better saws do. Thank you all. Now to pick up a blade for it.

So, I picked up 2 blades for the saw this week. I unfold the 1st one and as I look at it I see the teeth are backwards. With a blade this small and so stiff I was worried that it might snap when I flip it around. I grabbed the 2nd one to see and it was right. I went ahead and put on the second one to see how the saw worked. All I can say is I wish I had done this a long time ago. As you can see I made a stand for it that is way better then the 4 wobbly legs it came on. I went ahead and flipped the 1st blade around and it is good to go.

That cart is certainly an improvement over the stand...

Rubber tires would be quickly destroyed by metal shavings, without a seal or evac system.

Yeah, I like the cart... You've just given me another project to add to the list! I have limited space, so I have to open the garage door any time I been to do anything but a quick job.

One mod I did to my HF one was to replace the crappy pressed table that needs to be unscrewed every time you need to use it in horizontal mode... Made up a table that mounts in the vise, and just hangs on the wall when not in use.

Now that's a good idea!

As for the wheels question, some bandsaws have them, some don't. I've heard of guys using duct tape or electrical tape as a make shift bandsaw tire with some success, but it's possible you may not need tires at all. It's also possible that tires for another bandsaw will fit if the diameter is the same.
