Here's a custom order going out next week. The client wanted a stag-handled Bowie similar to one he'd seen of mine, but wanted the "W" cored damascus from another of my knives. He asked for matching damascus fittings, and the "take-down" feature. I promised him that Paul would do a fantastic sheath.
Here's the result. The blade is 11" by 1 5/8 "x 7/32" at the ricasso, for a very light and fast knife in the hand. The damascus is a 4-bar composite, each bar of which is a "W" cored 9-bar twist. You can see the result of matching the pattern in the weld-up and leading the center weld out the tip of the blade.
The stag handle was epoxy cast to the waxed tang to make it a removable take-down, while still locking up structurally tight with the fluted finial holding the filed-to stag domed butt-cap.
Paul exceeded himself on the tip and throat chevron, insert sheath, with "Pappoose" for the take-down tool. I think it was that beaver tail that got him excited.
I'm off to the Pioneer Settlement in Barberville, Fl, near Deland this week-end, demonstrating for the Florida Artists Blacksmiths Assn. Come on down if you're nearby.

Nothing really new here, just one that came out nicely for me, and fun to do.
