Well I hit the big 4 0 today. Can't say I feel any different. Couple of guys at work were telling me that they felt depressed when they hit "the wall".

So any advice from the old codgers on how to enjoy my freewheel downhill to retirement? I plan on growing old disgracefully.

While a few years out from 40, I have always been of the persuasion that you enter the world naked and screaming. I plan to go out the same way;)

Congrats and happy birthday:)

Enjoy the 40's but don't blink. They will be over before you realized that they even started.

I used to pick on my wife all the time about turning 40 because she was so worried about it. She's about 6 months older than me. I didn't care about turning 40 because I'm already fat, bald and wear glasses :D

Well, she turned 40 and is doing great.

Since I've turned 40, I've broken both my feet, been in a wheelchair for 6 weeks, have gout, have arthritis in my hip and tendonitis in my elbow. I've also had to get bifocals. The joke was on me!

ouch - I think I will go with the young blonde and dying screaming naked :)

Happy Birthday then my friend,I suppose I'll soon find out what it feels like since I'm goona be 34 this June!

I suppose I'm lucky, evenone I tell I'm 33 then look at me and go "No way!" I do tend to appear younger then I am :D

Happy Birthday Moff8!

I've found it very helpful to stay a little pudgy-

-it helps fill out the wrinkles. ;)

I'm struggling to remember that far back ... which is one good idea -- enjoy your failing memory!:)

Just keep doing the things you've always enjoyed, just with far fewer regrets. Such as drinking (I always suggest single malt Scottish whisky).:D

Also, nod sagely every once in awhile and perhaps say "hmmm." It will give a general impression of wisdom ... whatever that is.

Happy Birthday!

For me, I found my 40's were a great decade. I had a great time, started new hobbies (including sword collecting and Japanese sword arts) and found time to do some of the things I had wanted to do but had had not done so ...

Then came the big "5 Oh" ... and things have been downhill since :(

I am taking tomorrow off and going to see the new Wolverine movie in the morning and my main present was a private registration for my car so after the movie it is along to the DVLA to get the details sorted out.

30-40 has been a bit of a blur - moving house, DIY, fatherhood.

40-50 I hope to take a little slower and enjoy the scenery a little more.

I have the little bit podgy bit down already so its just a case of keeping up the good work :)

Alcohol I never really took to, just a little too many alcoholics in the extended family. Not quite T-Total but near enough.
