  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

I bought my first Buck, a 102 woodsman, in 1967. Shortly after I bought a 301 stockman. Those knives saw good use while I was in the army, and did things I should not have asked of a knife. They never failed.

Since then I have used a cadet, a wrangler, a companion, a Bucklight, and now a new Hartsook.

From opening my mail, to dressing a whitetail, always got the job done.

Thank you Buck!

it just so hapens that my first buck was a 102 that I purchased after getting out of the army in 1968.though I could have bought the knife a year later 1969.I bought it and a 16 Ga. remington 870 woodmaster at the same time from the local hardware store.
I still have both but,I put the buck away for old times sake.

Thanks for the stories guys. I'm glad the knives served you well and trust that they will continue to!

Well, as long as we are talking about our history with Buck...

The first Buck I bought was a 110 in 1976. That was followed by a 301, 118, 119, a couple different crosslocks, mini-buck, and 172. And my wife bought me a 501MS. I also have a fixed blade that my grandfather gave me in the late 60s, I don't recall the model (the name Caper comes to mind, was that the name of a model then?)

I've spoken often on here about the 1st version 112 I bought in 1972 and used for work for more than eight years, but my real first Buck was a small fixed blade (102 0r 105) that my father bought for me when I was a boy scout back in either 1960 or 1961. I do remember that it was the version with the barrel nut on the end of the pommel. I used it a lot as a boy but I think my mother gave it away or threw it out when I left home. I'd like to think that it ended up in the collection of someone here on the Buck forum or the BCCI. Don't worry, I won't ask for it back! :D

wow has it realy been 40 years from when i also bought a folding hunter in 67 also? i never added it up.. thanks for the math...
yes i also have owned a buck always sence that first one..
in the nav i got a 124 and later a locking marlin spike knife some 300 stuff a 112 or so..
i got a liner lock folding hunter with two blades, then the electricians knife and many others ,,,
but i always had a 110 in reach, it was a tool i used almost every day.
cutting metal straps on conduit, braided wire wraped hydrolic lines,
plastic and wood, skining a few deer ... many things including cutting my PD&J sanwitch to share...
now retired as i am they have become a art form worth collecting and showing off ...
i dont care of the papaer work or box,
to me it is the knife still in its functionl form...
but taken to a level of eye pleasing form other then pure function...
but i ramble too much some times when i should be doing a chore for the wife...
