Most new sharpeners leave out a coarse stone. It does alot of the heavy work. Especially if your changing the edge angle.
200,400, 600 then strop would be idea.
Would recommend diamond stones. They will work much faster and give you a more crisp edge on that m390. Though you could work fine with SiC (silicon carbide) or ceramic just may take a little longer. Harbor fright has a cheap diamond combo kit for diamond sharpening if your looking for something low cost for starting out.
But 600 grit is perfectly fine to finish on. 400 may be a bit slow to reprofile with depending on the hrc of the m390 blade.
You may Want to get a strop of some sorts and some diamond paste. You can use leather, basswood, or even a paint stick. Diamond paste can be had for as cheap as 15$ give or take for decent brand.
In any case... If your new to sharpening I would suggest going to Walmart and getting some really cheap single digit priced knives or a cheap Buck knife in s30v or usa made buck in 420hc steel and practice on those before you start on the m390. You don't want to ruin your expensive knives.
