I am thinking about buying a couple of Kalingas and I have been looking at the two Kalingas on the web specials. I haven't seen one for sale before with those handle materials. I noticed the rosewood handle with s30v steel sells for about $95.00. Does anyone know when those on the web specials first sold and the price they were bringing?

Mater,

I have both the Buff and Ironwood knives. Both have custom stamps from several years back. My guess is the knives were blanked for a LE project the either never happened or ended as a short run. Both knives are Build Outs.

For the money you can't beat the new knife with S30V if you're lusting for a big honking field/skinner. Frankly, any of the Kalingas are big honking knives.
Also, consider a used micarta knife in good condition for about same money. It will be a 70s to 1982 knife and the steel will most likely be 440C. It could also be 425M if you end up with one from the last couple of years. Anyway, here's all four

While I don't have the fixed blade Kalinga, I did buy a folding Kalinga from New Graham a couple of months ago, and I really like the knife. Its a nice handful and performs well. I like the curve in the blade, it makes for a folding knife that stands out from most of the others, yet it is affordable.

Thanks guys. I guess I should buy the web specials first as they probably won't be available long.

Gordon, My uncle has an old school micarta Kalinga just like 3rd one down in your pic. He bought it back in the 70's before retiring from the Navy. Anyway, on family hunting or camping trips, that is the only knife I can ever remember him carrying. He still carrys it today and he is in his late 60's. Perfect example of one knife for life.

Well said there Colt.
It just may outlast you too.

Thanks Mater...I like the Kalinga pattern. For me the perfect kalinga would be a micarta #3 exact copy but with S30V or BG-42. Whooahhh!!
