I just watched a long video by Luke Swenson.
He strongly recomends using 409 Stone and Steel for hand sanding.

I live in Germany so I always have to translate these kind of things into something simular that I can get over here.

What is 409 Stone and Steel?
Any leads for me to get something simular over here? (or the same without $50,- shipping costs)

Try to find at your shops some eqivalent containig Ethanolamine

Anyway shipping 409 from here by air may be illegal since Ethanolamine is flamable

I wouldn't pay $50 for a bottle of 409 stone and steel cleaner even in the states. It used to be somewhere around $5 or $6 a bottle, but they temporarily halted production to focus on disinfectants for Covid, and people started gouging prices almost immediately.

At any rate, I'd say any multi-surface cleaner will be better than nothing. I've used anything from Windex to Simple Green, or before that, WD-40.

I have it and it really does not work as well for me as Windex.

Is it better then windex, wd40 or soap-water?

I mostly use soap water and wd40 on the last grit size
Don't know. Never used any of those on stainless. I guess I got lucky right off the bat by starting off and going with the Weiman's and getting an amazing finish. I don't feel the need to change it up to anything else.
