I thought I saw someone using these for hawks and hatchets & such. Can anyone comment on their performance in terms of edge holding, edge denting, rolling, chipping etc.? What hardness range is used for these applications?
not sure off hand of the hardness they are using but RMJ tactical is using 4140 in their hawks and they are absolutely awesome!!! just look online at all the videos of guys wrecking the world with them and you'll know you have a solid performer and a steel that is more than suited for any task. I have used them myself extensively and have nothing but praise.
