Missouri Trapper

Had this knife for a few days trying to break it in a little as it was very difficult to open. After leaving the 1/4 open it got a little easier to open. Just when I thought it was getting 'usable' I folded over my thumbnail last night and nearly threw the knife through the wall. I've got this little bitch tough nut sitting 1/4 open again but Im leaving it out for a week. I really like this knife, but am considering returning it back to GEC.

you chose a nice variant of the pattern - I like the elegant simplicity of the ebony and brushed steel. Anyway, spring strength seems to be a matter of taste, and its a deal-breaker for a lot of people. I've never had a problem with bear trap springs - I found it was my hand that got accustomed to pulling out a stronger blade, rather than changing the knife itself. My non knifeknut friends have issues even opening a SAK blade, so it is relative.

That's a beauty don't give up on her yet. Try grabbing a blade + handle and open-close open-close it one hundred times while you're watching tv or something

You might also try a good cleaning of the pivot pin area. Usually some buffing compound ends up in the pivots and contibutes to the strong pull. If you need to send it back,do it. Believe me, GEC has seen this a few times! No need to hate your knife.

I've done exactly that, hehe. So far leaving it open seems to give the best results so far

Some folks can't get past their egos and put their butt-hurt aside to take a word of advice and move on. So we shall instead.
