I was just thinking...
In "The hitch hiker's guide to the galaxy" the say that
"42 is the answer of the ultimate question" (translated from english to Swedish to english again :-/ )
Well what you say ? Do you think Douglas Adams like Balisongs ? :-)
So the question must be:
"What Balisong is the best Benchmade have ever done?"
of course: the BM "42"

Hey Harding!
Way to go!

wah what a coincidence.. so many fans from sweden and also the coincidence on #42.. but quite frankly, until I get a no pre pro BM 42 to abuse I think my money is still on the 45

The answer to the question is not 42, but any of the "Custom Bali-Songs". Those were and still are the best of the Bali-Songs that Benchmade ever made, or will be made in the near future.

Anything else while it may be good is a "wanabe"

I agree with sniperboy.

I don't see how the 42 can be better than the 45.

I would not consider the origional Batangas Balisong a "wannabe". They make a tourist model Balisong in Batangas, that are called collector knives in this country, but they do still make "martial arts" quality knives. They are just not as common. No one questions that Benchmade improved upon the design, but Benchmade is a high tech knife. From what I have seen, knife sales in general are about half in half in regards to the Computer designed lazor cut High Tech, compared to the Old World hand made knives. Up tell now, only the blades were lazor cut, but now they are beginning to lazor cut the handles, even on some production knives.

Based on my experience with a Ti handled custom, I think the 42 is really going to surprise people who have only been swinging 45s up to now. The Ti handles are lighter, just as quick, and quieter. I also think they will be grippier when a little sweaty.

Been there and seen them made.

Maybe I should have clarified the statement about "wannabe's"

Compared to the Benchmade Bali-Song's for the most part everything else currently available on the market today is JUNK.

Some of the old balisongs out of the Philipines are very good considering what they are made of and the tools used to make them.

Benchmade just built a better Bali-Song than anybody has to date.

And I think that everyone will agree.
