Hi, I have a vintage 1980 Taiwan 480 survivor knife and yes I know it is o pos. But I want to fix the end ring that broke that holds the compass. It’s gotta be some metric female threaded 11/8” end piece. I am looking for a solution since I won’t be able to find junkie original plastic end ring. Any suggestions what might work? A plumbing end pipe of some sort?

Hard to say without a photo or two to see, how this knife and end ring looks like.
Is there a chance we are talking about one of those Rambo knives with round hollow handle and saw on the spine of the knife?
If this is the case just trash this junk and buy yourself a proper fixed blade knife.

Just kidding.
If you can't find replacement part (new or used) there is a slim chance a random thing would fit the shape, size and thread you need. As far as I know plumbing end pipes have imperial threads.
Most likely the only option would be some sort of tool shop with a lathe to make you a new part.

Are you handy? You can cast it for example from epoxy. Find or make something (a small cup or similar) a little bigger as the final size of this ring you need. Spray the threads of the knife with WD40 so the epoxy won't stick to threads. Then fill the proper height of epoxy in this small cup and then dip the end of the knife in there. Protect with tape the rest of the knife handle where you don't want epoxy to go. When it's solid use sanding paper to make a final shape of this ring.
With a little luck the epoxy won't stick to threads and you will be able to unscrew it. I bet there are also other substances on the market you can use instead of epoxy.

But....as I wrote ....... hard to say without photos.

Might be able to take it to a hardware store to see if they have a way to measure the threads. Knowing that you might be able to find a pipe
fitting that could fit /be modified

If you have an emotional connection to the knife, I would suggest buying another copy on the big auction site and using the parts to restore your knife. You can still readily find them at flea markets and antique shops so that can be a cheaper alternative. Anyway the knives are relatively inexpensive, and so the parts can be easily found.

(And that was my 20,000th post!)
