I just got an order of 420-V fom our own Ed Schott and havent bit into it yet. What is the best heat treat profile for this steel? I have the Crucible specs but have found their specs to not nesissarly be the best for knives. They are more geared for tooling. So Darrel, Ed, and whoever else has experiance with 420-V, what profile should I use?

Peter Herbst has a lot of experience with CPM powder metal stainless steels. He recomends RC 58 for knife blades. I thinks you will get best result with a vacuum furnace.

Thanks guys. Tom, I will let you know if I can get my controller to read that high, it currently only goes to 2000, but may be an easy fix. Otherwise I will have to send it off same as you and that will really upset me as I am a control freak! Thanks for the profile Ed!
