When , and on what, was this used ?
I understand, from a VERY reliable source, that this stuff cannot be mirror polished.
Joe ? You out there ?

425 was used on production knives until 1992, 94 maybe? Cant quite remember, anyone know (remeber) better?

Hmmm not be mirror polished?

I would think it can! Much harder steel can be!!

Noop.
It's not the hardness factor.. It's that the steel has some " voids" in it which show up as pitting when you get to the mirror phase.
Some old gun receivers are the same way.
They have to be " textured"

Well, its a possiblity, if the blades were stamped out, which more than likely they were (like most today). But even then you should be able to get one blade of 420HC that can be mirror polished (decently).
