Can anyone tell me what year the 426 Bucklite was first introduced? For the life of me I can't find any information on it. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you check the Club site??? I know I downloaded a PDF on the 426 some time back...
I spent the better part of an hour going through old newsletters for information with no success. :o

Anyway...the Bucklite family is listed as first introduced in 1984...

Maybe that's because I started with the oldest and worked forward. I stopped before I got to last year's. :o :o

Odd you should be thinking of them...I have one of the maroon handled drop-points here in front of me, steel spacer, no date gryphic...dull as a horseshoe... :(

But the seam between the rockerbar and blade is almost invisible...

I have the same one you do and the same color, and the best I can come up with is that it had to have been made between 1986 when the 426 first went to a clip point blade and 1988 when it was first made with an injection molded plastic frame rather than two pieces.

...And remember gang...You can't download the back issues of the BCCI newsletters if you're not a member!!! :D

Like they say at the NYS Lottery..."You can't win if you don't play!"... ;)

In the summer of 1985, I stuck a Bucklite (my first Buck) into my right thigh (first stiches) at the 1985 National Boy Scout Jamboree at Fort AP Hill, VA.

I have no idea where that knife is today, but I remember the handles were green, and I thought it had a clip point, but it could have been a drop point.

Anyway, a little personal verification that Bucklites were in for sale by the summer of 1985.

Which merit badge was that for??? :D

I was cutting a "fire starter" (cardboard egg carton full of sawdust and candle wax) that we used to start our charcoal that we cooked with. I was sitting on my cot in a dark tent and my knife slipped.

I did lose a corner of my "Tot-n-Chip" I'm sure all the old scouts here remember those. They were a knife saftey program used by Scouting. You took a course, passed a test, then were issued a card. Everytime you were caught doing an unsafe act with a knife or axe, a corner was removed from your card. When all the corners were gone, you had to retake the course and test.

When I was a kid, I'd say words backwards...not spell them, just pronounce them...at one time, I could say them backwards as fast as you could say them forwards... :p

Not a terribly useful skill, as it turned out...

Is that the reason for the 'last wife" or was it that measurement "shortcoming" (Alpha thread)? :p
