I'm sorry if this is otherwise public knowledge, but are the 42a models available yet? Have they started shipping? If not, is there anywhere I can order a 42a in particular as opposed to the normal 42? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks everyone! Matt

42a = anodized (colored) handles
42 = non-anondized silver handles

Gollnick, I'm sure you'd be the authority on this question as far as these forums go. I've seen pics of the protos and read of you getting some pre-production models. Are the production models starting to roll out? Thanks! Matt

I can confirm that regular production has begun and they (42 and 42s <serrated>) are shipping. I received my 42 not long ago. Most seem to be available through registered BM cutlery stores, while some are reaching the online and mailorder market (like mine). Seems like production has picked up quite a bit, so the flow should be increasing some. I've heard reports of the 42a being sold through some store fronts, but have yet to see one myself (had one on order, but, for fiscal reasons, pulled it, errrr). Best bet would be to call around your area and see if anyone has one. You could also give www.nwcutlery.com a go. They are great people, a pretty good price last i checked, and, as they are a registered dealer (the webs only), they have started to ship. Hope that helps, E.

They've shipped pre-production and first-production anodized pieces. They've also finished the pre- and first-production on the non-anodized versions and are shipping unnumbered pieces now. Personally, I have not yet seen unnumbered anodized pieces and the anodized ones seem to be lagging about four to six weeks behind the silver ones. So, if you can find a numbered one, that's great. Otherwise, call your favorite dealer and get on the list for an anodized one. Shouldn't be more than a few weeks.
