as anybody had one of the BMs with the black coating long enough to tell how good the coating is? i have a 42 and 47 with the satin handles. i can't decide if i want to get the 43 in black or satin. if i get the satin then all three will look better together. on the other hand i think the black handles look really cool but i don't want to get them and then two mounths later have the stuff start chipping off. so i have to decide between two. i could get the satin and make the set look uniform or get the black because it looks cool.

my opinion: Satin. I think the bowie blade just looks better with plain handles. I've had a 47BLK for over a month now, but I don't use it too too often because I'm a little afraid of it (it's sharp as hell and very top-heavy).

If you go back a few days in the postings.., I did post something about my experience with the coating..., I forget the day, but if you search for a couple minutes you'll find it..(maybe 4-5 days ago).

i just like to add that i absolutely love my 47. i take it everywhere except church and school. i can't even watch tv without in my hand. everybody else in my family hates it. they say that's all they hear. my mom won't even let me have "that think" in the same room with her. just about every time i see her she's saying "stop clicking that damn knife". i play with it as soon as i get out of bed while getting ready for school to just before i go back to bed that night. i even play with it while driving. i know that's really unsafe but each time set it down it screams FLIP ME....FLIP ME. i'm like a crack addict or something. if i don't have it in hand i start twitching and going into convolutions. i sure hope i'll love a 43 as much as i love my 47.

one day i will be the greatest and when i walk down the street everybody will turn their heads and say, " i know him ,he's the greatest at that thing we call the balisong."

so let it be written:D

I prefer the satin handles. I think the blade and the handles compliment each other. I also have a 42A, and the coating has begun to rub off in certain areas. (latch gate, outside corners of knife where knife has contacted the floor)

Here's a smaller and large pic of a Satin handled 43 that I took.

But don't let this picture influence your decision. I'd go to a store to go handle one of the BLK ones. I prefer the smooth feeling satin handles too.
