This is my latest design, it is made from 3/16" 440-C with Black and red linnen Micarta and stainless hardware. I am thinking of keeping this one, but not sure yet. I did the HT myself with a Cryo. treatment in Liquid Nitrogen, it checks out at 59 RC, after a double temper of 375 deg. Let me know what you guys think. Good or bad comments are welcome. Please feel free to give me the buisness about my poor photography skills, I'm trying to get better.

Thanks for looking
Nick:)

I like it, I have always like your knife designs and the quality of workmanship you put into them. Great knife and sheath. The micarta looks like wood in the photo.

Looks good enough for anyone to own

Thanks for the kind responses guys. I've had a few local guys say that they too, think it is a perfect shape, but I've also had guys tell me that they like my wider profile knives better.

Thanks again
Nick:)

What's the length of the blade and handle for all us BF crew.

What do you think the price is going to be for your new 440C version?

Hi Martin, it is exactly the same dimensions as the one I sold in the for sale forum. 5 1/2" edge with a OAL of 10 5/8". Made from 3/16" 440-C. I can also make these in 1/8". I think as far as pricing, I will charge $160.00 Shipped to US or Canada. The grip area is a about 3/16" longer on this style, in comparison to the Sportsman that you have.

Thanks
Nick:)

I'm curious about the shape of the blade, especially the point. Why does the point come to such a blunt angle? I find that a much more pointy point is more useful. I'm not being critical, just curious.

Hi Fudo, Point well taken, ( pun intended):D I make them that way for strength, I've seen too many knives with broken tips, so I make mine with a little beefier point, I can make them either way, just in case someone is interested. I haven't had a problem with penetrating game animals. But, to each is own eh.

Thanks
Nick:)

nice knife, I especially like the slim handle. Its hard for me to find a larger bladed knife that fits well in my hands because the hadle is usuall too large.

I don't know much about knives other than I like the way they look or I like the way they feel in my hand. I really like the profile of your knife here and the one you just sold. It looks like it should be easy to use. I was interested in the comment earlier about how your handle design really welds it to one's hand. I don't typically care for a fixed blade knife without a guard. I'm always concerned that I would slip down the handle and cut myself. I don't think I'd have that worry with your knife.

Do you have a top view picture? My only other concern would be if the handle is too thin. (I have large hands.) I had to laugh, the other day someone said they could shave some width off a knife if 3/4" thickness was too thick. That's about the minumum thickness desired for myself.

I really like how you've set the pins in the handle. I don't think I've seen that very often and I like it. I could also swear that those are wood scales and not mircata. Did you make the mircata yourself?

Keep up the good work!

Thanks guys, I can post other pics. later tonight, but in the mean time. The handle measures 7/8" wide, and 3/4" where it indents for your fingers. The blade is 1 1/8" wide. WA Martin, I fully understand your concern about having enough to securly hang on to. And evryone is relying upon dimensions and pics. but even with its narrow design it really stays put once it's in your hand. Also , I purchased the handle material from Jantz Supply, I am planning on ordering some of their green and black as well.

Thanks again for the feedback.
Nick:)

Hello fellow knife nut WA Martin, I also have big hands and name is Martin

I have the same concern with knives being so razor shape that your hand cannot slide down onto the blade. Nicks handle on the one I have, I don't find it possible for your hand could slided down onto the blade or slip back of the end of the knife.

I have emailed Nick several times saying I find this to be a major strong point of his design and don't loose that in any new designs. I really like that your hand cannot go forward onto the blade or come off the back end.

All as I can say is I vouch for Nick's knife, he's a nice guy and straight shooter to deal with. His knife comes razor sharp, fit and finish has no defect's and good sturdy sheath. In my opinion you would be statisified.

PS: I am glad to see more guys saying they got big hands and asking for knifemakers to accomadate there hand size! I was feeling like the only one for a long time doing that.

Oh, no worries there. Mentally at least I've added Nick to the list of people I definitely want a knife from. Will just have to revise the budget and wait for the OT to come in this summer. Good things come to those who wait and all that...

big hands or paws...

Paws, claws, meathooks... I never thought of how big they were compared to other people (although there are a lot of farmers and ranchers and orchardists around here that make my hands look dainty) but my folks have a picture of me holding my nephew when he was 3 or 4. He's not little either but my hands on his back giving him a hug makes him look like a premie.
