This is SS,correct ? How corrosion resistant is it ?
Thanks,
-Vince

I think you mean CPM440V, right? I have two Spyderco's in this steel, and it is great stuff! It's very corrosion resistant. I never had problems in 4 year edc carry. It's my favorite steel, i like it better then S30V.

Tom,I guess it's CPM 440V The tang is simply marked 440v by Reese Bose

Yes it is CPM440V and later renamed CPMS60V. We do not make this grade anymore but do have some sizes left in our inventory. The Bose boys bought alot of our remaining inventories.

So it is fairly corrosion resistant, though ? ,Thanks

Vince,

It is comparable to 440C in corrosion resistance which is quite good. It will also hold an edge for a loooooooong time...better than S30V.

Ray Cover made quite a few knives in 440V and he still makes a few on special request. Ray's edc has 440V blades and he has carried it for over 15 years. It has no indication of staining, pitting etc and it has been used hard. I'll try to get some pics of it next time I'm visiting--probably next week.

Thanks guys,
-Vince

But when exposed to sweat and left without cleaning, pits will form under the rust. I have a Kershaw Ken Onion Random Task with this problem.
