Today in the mail I got a NIB 442 that I bought off Ebay, LOVE the knife, I love having a Bucklite that has a pocket clip reversible for southpaws and the drop point blade rocks. The seller said in the listing it was discontinued, but the one I recieved has the state of Idaho tangstamp, so if they have how recently did Buck stop making them?

And yes, I will get a picture up!

Both the 442 and the smaller sibling 444 were removed from the Buck catalog for 2006. Personally, I never cared for the styling of any of the Bucklite family (excepting the 425 MiniBuck) once they switched from the old two piece to the newer one piece handle back in the late 1980s.

Thanks Larry, are there any other models that have a revesible pocket clip?

The only one I ever had with the pocket clip was the 442.

Some of the 442's didnt even come with one. I love them all...

442, 444, and 446. All of them are super light and durable for their composition! I really liked how light they were.

The only ones I have left though are the 446 Goliaths. The 442 and 444 all received heavy use!

I have always thought that 446 Goliath was kinda cool, just never took the plunge and bought one.

I just ordered a 442 after this thread got me to thinking how much I miss the 442 that I somehow lost or misplaced last year. The 500 is my all-time favorite Buck, and the 442 is a nice lighter-weight substitute. I'm hoping the 442 I now have on order is a 2005 model with the Idaho stamp.:)

I carried mine yesterday, wow what a pocket friendly knife. You almost forget it's there it's so light.

The 446 is a great knife! I keep one in my windshield bag. Its a stout sucker too, made easy work of a whitetail last season, even down to splitting the pelvis, feels good skinning too. I've been playing with an idea to turn it into something on the lines of a 110 w/o the rear bolsters.

NOOOOO!

say it ain't so, i love the 442

does anyone know who carries the protege 450RD? i think it will be my 442 replacement.

It is listed in the 2006 catalog and its on the Buck Knives web site, so it should just be a matter of checking out the sporting goods stores or go online, theres tons of proteges out there!
