i have a springfield .45....is the wilson 47D the most reliable 8 rd magazine available?

the mags that came with my springfield are great....just that they are only 6rd.

thanks........Bill

i have never used the wilsons but have had good luck with my mcormick mags, have had them for 10 yrs probably, 3 of them, never a prob, IIRC chip was among the first to have a reliable 8 rounder.

I recently picked up an 8 round CMC Powermag, it's fantastic. I have heard good about 47Ds as well, just try one of whatever brand you choose and check for efficiency in your 1911.

All I have right now are 47Ds, but when I buy new mags they will probably be CMC Powermags, as the spring life is supposed to be better.

It's a tossup between those and the Chip McCormicks.

I have an 8-round Chip McCormick "Shooting Star" that's run reliably for years.

.

I currently use Wilson mags, and they are an excellent choice. However, I have some Chip McCormick Power Mags, and Chip McCormick Shooting Star mags that have been very reliable as well.

Those magazines that came with your Springer are more than likely made by Metalform, and I have had good luck with them.

thanks for all your recommendations

i bought a CMC power mag.......we'll see how it does.

I've tried almost every magazine in both my Springfield's and Colt. From Colt originals to Metalforms to Chip McCormick. Then I tried Novaks Nickel (can't tell once it's in the pistol) and blued 8 rounders and have never looked back. No jams, smooth feeding. The follower is flat, similar to a SIG so the bullet has less chance to roll or dip when feeding. That's all I'll use now.

Worth a try:

CDNN almost always has great prices on magazines.
