I noticed from Ebay pictures, this has handles similar to the 140 thru 147OT knives. Is this related to that series in some way? I never really cared for the 47OT, but if it a part of the series, I will have to buy one.

I'm not sure it was part of a series but just a similar Safe-T-Grip handle. They did name it appropriately "The Beast" it is a strange knife to hold, rather large and somewhat unique. There was a smaller version, 42 or 43 I think, if there is interest I'll look it up. I picked up one for less than $20 just to have it. I think they were new in '04 and only produced for one year as opposed to the OT's and UH models that were made in the tens of thousands for more then twenty years. Rick

I have all the others..... so it's off to ebay I go to find the 43, 47 and 49.
I love a good hunt.
Thanks for the replies.

hi mountainwind, as of 2 months ago a store near me had 3 left of the 47 or 43 ots, in their clampacks cant remember which ones, but they were the large models, if your interested the next time i go ill see if theirs any left.thank you.

Thanks, but I snatched the 43 and 47 already. I found a web site for the 49.
It's a good thing I'm not married, cause it's hard to explain why people need a lot of knives.

So they were around longer I thought ,at least I got the name right, thanks for correcting me Codger. Nice collection Larry

Recieved all three knives in mail today. I don't get any WOW factor from them, but I do get satisfaction knowing the series is now complete.
Thanks for all replies.

Pretty much my reaction to them. If you have the series complete, then you have the Black, Blue, Orange, and Burgandy TPR's too?

Lucky for you, only the black TPR (OTB) was used on the entire series of five (excluding the short 146/246 fillets I think), and then usually with the DU insert in the shield cavity. Three knives were made in the orange TPR (OTO), two in the Burgandy TPR (OT?), and one in the blue TPR (OTBU). Really, you only need one of each color to have a representative set, another four total, but a comprehensive set would be eleven more. Overkill, IMHO. The 147 pattern might be easiest to acquire the odd colors in, excepting the blue which was only made in the 141OT pattern, IIRC. If you wanted all of the colors in a single pattern, the 141OT is your best bet, except...I've only seen a couple of them in Burgandy so far.
