4Sevens Preon 1 + clicky tailcap issues

I'm on my 2nd Preon 1, after making whoever found my last one a happy camper, and 3rd tailcap switch. Unfortunately, both Preon 1's I've had developed an intermittent flicker on the 2nd brightness setting. I bought a new clicky from 4Sevens and the problem seemed to be fixed, but lost the light soon after.

The flicker goes away when I loosen the upper part of the tailcap, but always returns. All other light output modes work normally.

I'm not sure if this is due to the back bezel tightening up and squishing the rubber boot inside against the switch, causing a flicker, or if the switch is simply defective. Like I mentioned, both Preon 1's developed the flicker over time.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? I'm loathe to contact 4Sevens about it given the snarky responses from a customer service rep last time, when I ended up just ordering a replacement switch.

I'm also open to the possibility that using the clip and lanyard ring combined may be part of the problem, but hope it isn't.

Any thoughts?

My thoughts are that you should give them one more chance to make it right customer-service wise, and if you get another snarky comment, don't buy any more of their products. There are tons of good light manufacturers out there.
you could try taking off the lanyard ring and just putting the lanyard on the clip.

I bought a Preon 2 last year that had similiar issues. Actually right out of the box it wouldn't even turn on until I messed with lamp bezel.
Took it to work and found that sometimes it would turn on, sometimes not. Those issues combined with the fact that I really don't like the
way switch feels when clicked, too "squishy" for lack of a better word, left me not at all impressed with this product.

Bought a Terralux Lightstar 80 for 20 bucks, ugly as sin, but works every time.
