I recieved my 4sevens black Preon kit today and have been playing with the light in both the 1AAA and 2AAA versions. The 1AAA is one heck of a light, and is brighter and has a nicer beam than my Fenix LOD-CE. The 2AAA version, though, is a whole 'nother animal. I predict the Preon II to be a bladeforums favorite within a few months.
The low setting of the Preon II is great for dark adjusted eyes and closeup work. The medium is plenty bright for almost all the things I'd need a light to do. The high setting is for showing off! On high, the Preon II puts out 160 out-the-front lumens (or about 210 lumens if measured like most manufactures measure their lights.) For a AAA penlight, this sort of brightness is amazing! Besides the brightness, the beam is smooth and even. Nice and floody.
Other lights might be a little brighter, but none have the form factor of the Preon. It's slim and sleek and the clip makes it as easy to carry and as accessible as any pocket knife. This is a great EDC light and I'm betting lots of you guys will be sporting them before too long.:thumbup:
