Hope everyone has a good 4th and keep in mind all those Americans overseas fighting and dying for not only our freedom, but the freedom of others. Our world will never be the same after 9/11 as well it should not. I think the horrific scenes on that day can attest to that. Don't for one minute ever believe that just one or two countries were involved. The intelligence the president gets usually guides his actions and most of that information is classified and thus we are not privy to it and wonder why our gov. does what it does. To think that Iraq, Iran, Syria and some other countries in that area had or have nothing to do with trying to hurt us is ludicrous.

I remember French sites stating that the 9/11 attack was a hoax. I saw first hand the carnage at the Pentagon, and no one can ever erase that.

Keep all those who protect our freedom in your thoughts..

PS--This was not meant to stir some political agenda, so I will not respond to such remarks and if that starts, I'm sure the thread will be locked. I just don't think anyone should forget, even if they did not see the results of the attacks first hand.

MY SHIP HAD JUST LEFT THAILAND ENROUTE TO THE GULF WHEN THAT HAPPENED(9/11). SOMEONE CAME DOWN WITH THE NEWS AND EVERYONE THOUGHT HE WAS LAYIN A LOAD OF BS. LESS THAN AN HOUR LATER WE CAME TO FULL POWER. IT WAS THE FOLLOWING DAY BEFORE WE GOT THE OFFICIAL WORD AND ALMOST A MONTH BEFORE WE SAW VIDEO FOOTAGE OF THE CARNAGE. I DID NOT WITNESS ANY OF THIS FIRST HAND, HOWEVER, I STILL HAVE NIGHTMARES OF THE THINGS I HAVE SEEN AND SOMETIMES WHEN I CLOSE MY EYES I SEE FACES OR SCENES AND ONCE IN A WHILE A SMELL WILL TRIGGER A MEMORY. FOR ALL OF YOU SAILORS, SOLDIERS, MARINES, AIR FORCE AND COASTIES STILL OUT THERE, THANKS!! FOR WHAT IT IS WORTH, I WILL HAVE MY RETIREMENT CEREMONY IN 13 DAYS AND I STILL FEEL GUILTY THAT I AM NOT OUT THERE WITH MY SHIPMATES AND ALL THOSE YOUNGSTERS I HAVE TRAINED. DON'T KNOW WHY I JUST WROTE THIS, GUESS IT JUST TRIGGERED A "MOMENT". ANYWAY I HOPE YOU ALL HAD A GREAT 4th!!!

I was at the gym, going between the cardio room and the weight room, through a waiting room of sorts where mothers watch their children in swimming lessons via closed circuit TV and others just watch regular TV. I saw the second plane hit live. With severe clear VFR Wx, I had my suspicions about the first plane; the second plane sealed my thoughts.

Later that day, given our proximity to NYC, several children where mine attend were "called down to the office." It was a very, very bad/sad day. In the days that followed, there was hardly anyone anywhere in my daily routine who did not have or know someone who was directly affected. I hugged my kids a little harder that night, even the teenagers who think it corny.

We've been at war for a while before 9-11-01. There are those who hate us and all that we stand for. We take so much for granted. It is and has been a cruel and dangerous world out there. I just hope that we do not fall prey to the trade-off that Benjamin Franklin once spoke of wherein he who would trade liberty for security deserves neither!

Cobalt,
dittos on the fact that a lot of BS has been said about 9-11, especially in Europe. Supposedly open minded liberals all of a sudden came up with the wildest conspiracy theories. Now, I'm usually a person who likes to discuss important topics like that, but more than once I was so shocked that the only thing that came across my lips was something to the effect of :"Do you even know what a f****** retarded shithead you are?" or something like that.
What drives me up a tree is the fact that you talk to people and they pretend like they are giving you the lowdown on US policy and how all of this was planned and how they know everything because it is cool to bash Bush and the USA. And once you start asking question, it turns out that the freak has not even been to the US once, let alone met an American, and has no fricken clue what he's talking about.

Folks, let me just say that they are still some folks here who have not lost focus of what matters most, our freedom. We're in this together and it stays that way.
These days the 4th of July should be a holiday for all the Western world, because without you guys we'd be looking pretty lame!
Rock on! (hope this wasn't too much of a rant, sorry moderator)

At that time I was peacekeeping in Bosnia. When a sergeant told me about the attacks I thought "what a sh... exercise"
Some minutes later i saw the second crash live on TV.
I think this day is the saddest experience I had to make in my live.
Theese screwballs who claim it was a conspiracy are mentally deranged.
:barf:

Well, the weekend is almost over and I hope everyone had a great 4th weekend. Liberty and Justice for ALL.

Sitting here watching the Tour De France, hoping that either Lance or Tayler Hamilton will win.
