has anyone put these 4v steel knives to good use yet? I’ve been carrying my para3 but really haven’t had tasks that put the edge to real use yet.

I still playing with my para 3 in cru-ware. Then I have a M390, then Maxamet, then CPM-M4, and newest is the 4V all waiting to get used. Oops forgot about the REX 45 arrived also. Damm, and the S90V and S110V came in last week too. I’m slacking on steel use.

I have cut a significant amount of 160 psi 2" polypipe with mine. Stuff is wicked hard and messed up my m4 edge quickly. The edge is very durable and hasn't rolled or been compromised yet.

I’m the one who Rockwell tested mine and it did indeed come out at 64.

As for what I’ve cut with it, I cleared out brush around my tree stands with it this past weekend. I cut around 15 saplings around 1-2” in diameter. No edge damage, as expected. I also cut up a large box. Probably around 40 linear feet of cardboard. It didn’t dull it, but the hollow grind on the Manix exclusive seemed to bind pretty easily. Seriously considering getting it ground thinner and possibly ffg, as it’s more my style.

I can say when sharpening that compared to my other 4v blade that I have tested at 63.5hrc the para3 feels softer to me. ymmv

I really wanted to try one in cruwear... knife center preorder I hate you. Does anyone have the same model in cruwear and 4v from spyderco that they would like to share their opinions on how they compare?

Maybe I need to sharpen my way to some fresher steel to see it's full potential because at this point it's only had light touch up and hasn't had enough removed to expose virgin edge

On mine the factory edge seemed quite soft. I sharpened it as soon as I got it and it was a bit harder feeling (on the stones). It doesn’t seem as wear resistant as my m4 or k390 knives, but it’s still not as easy to sharpen as, say, 1084 or vg-10.
