Yup, I took a 4x3 buck to the butcher shop today; 103 pounds dressed out hanging weight. Gonna have deer for a while. I was going to butcher it myself but don't have the space, talked my wife into cutting her grocery budged for three paydays by $20.00 which will cover the cost of the processing. We will have Roasts, Back strap, steaks, stew meat and burger. The hide is going to a friend of mine to use in his fly tying endeavors, the heart and liver are in the freezer; Sadly the antler on one side broke when the buck took a header and hit the antlers on a rock. I missed a shot Sunday at a large spike buck, range was about 700 yards, I figured wrong on the elevation for distance and shot short, as in watched my round impact the plowed field (lots of dirt plume to see impact).

Grats on your Buck. Bow season opened here on the first, and I just got around to getting my tags today. I'm just not as excited about going as I used to be.

Congrats on the buck.
Post pics if you can.

Please don't take 700 yard shots at anything. The odds of a clean kill are not good.

Random, once you get out you'll wonder why you didn't get out sooner.:)

congrats.. moose opens here in Ontario on Sat. morn my gear is packed and ready to go, one cow tag and five guys gonna be cruisin the swamps come Sat. morn.

wouldn't have taken the shot if the animal wasn't standing broadside giving me all the time in the world, but I got excited and didn't have a good lock on the weapon (scope bite). I had made a 1000 yard shot on a coyote two days before from the offhand position. Out here in the Columbia basin most of the shots are over 400 yards and under 800 yards as it is wide open dry land wheat farms. My rifle shoots a nickle sized group at 100 yards which would be about a 10 inch group at 1000 yards, and the rifle is kept in good repair. Rifle is a Savage 110D in 30-06 with a touch of custom work done to it.

I didn't get any pictures as I don't own a digital camera and was getting dark when we dragged the deer to the road where we could load it. we drove it 15 minutes to a shop so we could have light to gut and dress it.:(
