5.11 knives

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these knives. A friend gave me one as a Christmas gift. Will be carrying it for a bit to see how it does. Seems to have a decent build quality .
 
I bought one a while back, its a good knife with good materials, it was nicely made, the one I bought was made by blade-tech so it was a solid knife. I dont know who makes them now, but the one I had was pretty good
 
I had one before I got into more expensive stuff. I had a wharncliffe shaped folder.
For the money it was nice. Developed a weak detent but never any blade play and held an edge as long as any other AUS 8.
Passed it on to my brother and he still uses it with no problems.
I'd say your friend got you a nice gift.

I spent a lot of time around them back when I was still in the Army. While I tended to carry from different brands, a lot of my soldiers carried them. Good little knives in their price range. Comparing apples to apples with competing brands in the same price ranges, I don't have any issues with them.


FYI, 5.11 is one of those brands that almost everything I had was good. I had a bunch of 5.11 stuff I deployed with from gloves boots to belts to packs to flashlights. What problems I did have 5.11's customer service took care of it. I don't have any issues with 5.11 FWIW
