5.11 Rush 24 or COVRT 18

I am looking for a bag for school, I am going back to college and my pack is beat up and I want a new one and was looking for something tactical so that I can use it in the future for trips, plane rides. I am looking for something that can safely hold a 15.6" laptop, secure my firearm when I can have it, and something that will last. I want some peoples opinions. I am also open to other options, links would help a lot, thanks.

I have the 5.11 Rush 72 and I beat the hell out of it (it was issued to me, I didn't buy it), but I personally don't find it very comfortable for some reason. I also have a lot of the Camelbak "tactical" packs, and they work great.

The 18 is more of an "average" size backpack; the 24 is noticeably larger. They should be similar in quality, function, and organization, aside from the 18's lack of webbing. It probably comes down to a matter of style and size.

I was thinking that I like features of both! I like the covert look of the covert with a CCW compartment, and I like the tactical look of the rush, I was wondering how big the 12 is also, I cannot find a local dealer.
