So, as you can see, I've researched all of these brands and more, and I need a good pair of pants that will fit the following requirements in order from most to least required (I would like to hear anything/everything from YOU!):

First off--my build:
6' 185 lbs. Cannot fit "slim" pants--I have the "chunkier" athletic build. I DO like a sleeker and less-baggier look. I would hate to buy baggy pants. 32W, 32L.

Price must be under $50 for the pair of pants.

Poly-cotton--I can't wear the 100% cotton stuff--too stuffy
Must be able to perform highly active activities--(Running, jumping, kicking--especially high karate kicks; I DON'T want the pants to hinder my movement.)
Non-baggy design
Water-resistant material or coating (Water MUST bead up and roll off) (This is more of a highly preferred criterion)
Reinforced knees
An easy to use pocket layout
Stain resistance

Optional, but preferred--reinforced pockets for knife pocket clips. Warranty in case something goes wrong.
Optional, kneepad slots

Thank you guys/gals!

First let me say that I'm extremely skinny, so you're results will probably be different than mine if you decide to go with the 5.11 Taclite(pro?)'s. I wear the 5.11 Taclite Pro's, which has poly-cotton. I have been able to run and jump fine, but I can't comment on the kicking. It also has a gusseted crotch, which is pretty comfortable. The pants were pretty baggy, and I had to have them modified, but like I said, I'm pretty skinny, so YMMV. When you buy the pants, they have a DuPont coating on them which makes water bead off and also resists stains, but after a couple washes it basically disappears. AFAIK though, this will happen with all coatings. The knees are reinforced, and there is a slit when you turn the pants inside-out, where you can put kneepads in if you want. The Taclite Pro pants have 8 pockets: RFP, LFP, RBP, LBP, right cargo pocket, left cargo pocket, and then there is a pocket between the left cargo parket and the LFP, which has a velcro closure. There is also a pocket between the right cargo pocket and RFP, which has no closure. It's been perfectly secure for me so far though. The only qualm I have with these pants is that the hook side of the velco is on the flap that folds to cover the pockets that use velco, and when you slide your hand into the pocket, the velco scrapes your hand. It's very irritating, but other than that I like the pair.

Thank you for your reply--can you let me know if they bunch up when you try to kick in them? Any seam issues? Any info on where they're made? Thanks!

I sell all of the above, I was a die hard 5.11 guy, right up untill I tried the tru-spec pants, much better fit, and freedom of movement, well made, durable as hell and they breath well. They also are very water resistant and don't stain easily. Plus they are the cheapest of the three. Their shorts are also awesome.

Some have said that they have a baggier, less "formed" fit--is that true? Which color do you find is the best?

I wear the 5.11 Taclite Pro's. I like these because they are a blended material and not 100% cotton. It does bead water. They have the reinforced pockets that you want and you can buy kneepads to go into the slots sewn in. They are excellent pants and are comfortable enough to wear everyday! Hope this helps

Do they have a trim or baggy fit?

I can't do any high kicks, so I just lifted my leg as far as it would go, and they stay pretty comfortable. No seam issues for me so far, and the 5.11 site says they're imported.

Although they are not as tacti-cool as the 511 and such, both Carhart and Big R make a pair of work pants that are basically the same. FWIW, alot of the 7th Grp and NSW guys in Iraq were wearing Carharts. Dont know why you would need to do any high kicks but to each his own. I have never had to kick anyone in the head wearing my Carharts or 511s

Are they pretty baggy or do they tend to have a flatter look towards the wearer's legs? (Also, are they baggy/slim because of your body-size/shape?)

@Colt--I just want to see the range of motion that the pants have.

When I got them they were pretty baggy, but that's probably because I'm skinny. When I face a mirror and look, the pants look to be about as wide as my body, and the same facing sideways.

The tru-spec's are slightly baggier, I now sell many more tru-spec pants than 5.11 or Blackhawk. I like Coyote, Kahki, OD or Black

I am a bigger Guy and I find the 5.11's are almost tighter in the legs and if I am doing somthing where I go from seated to standing, or nealing/crouching a lot I am always pulling up the back of my 5.11's. Now for polo shirts, 5.11 Hands down!
