These are great knives, I have One in the Spear Point Configuration. Its just basically a 5.5" Knonka without the tool kit ( I tried the toolkit from my regular Knonka and it will not fit ). The sheath is of the Codura Nylon like the CRK Military Knives. These were Exclusive to Plaza Cutlery for USN members and there were ONLY 10 of each made. ( 10 Clip Point & 10 - Spear Point ). They only lasted 2 days from what I understand. When I called, I bought #8, they only had 2 left after that. Being as so few were made and now that the OPR line is discontinued, the Pric Will Only Go Up !!!
Great score by the way, which one did you get ???
Blade: A-2 Tool Steel with a Kalgard coating Blade Length: 5 1/2"
Handle: Blade & handle are all one piece of A-2 Tool Steel with a Kalgard coating Overall Length: 10 5/8"
Sheath: Grey nylon "Spec Ops" sheath Weight: 13.3 Ounces
Item Number: 146-0007 Spear Point
Item Number: 146-0024 Clip Point
Class: Fixed Blades
Note: These knives are turned from one piece of A2 tool steel! There is not much that is stronger then these guys. The Kalgard coating protects the knife from rusting but you still need to keep it clean. The handle is hollow for storage & has an aluminum butt cap with an o-ring to seal it shut.
This is a non-released version of the Nkonka with a 5 1/2" blade. When I asked Anne Reeve that I would like to do something special for the USN guys she suggest they had 20pc, 10 off each blade style. Anne also said we could have this knife ready in time for the show. As they normally do not do many variations or any special orders it was a great choice and this is also the last year of the one piece knives so we went for it.
The crew up at Chris Reeve came up with grinding the end off the finish of the butt cap and cutting in part of the USN logo as it would fit and be legible on the butt cap. As you can see it is nice and clear! The handle is hollow and it does not come with the screw driver set up that the larger model has. You can put whatever you need in there. This is a great survival or emergency knife! If they all don't sell one will end up in our earthquake kit as we are right on top of the Newport-Inglewood fault line here in Huntington Beach!!
These knives are available to anyone who wants one!
