I just love these type of knives, just beautiful. My favorite "style" for sure. Just can't bring myself to shell out the required $$ yet though. Thanks for sharing !

One thing I noticed is that custom slip joints are far cheaper than custom moderns. 2 were around $400 and I think the most expensive was like $650.

like everything else.. depends what you’re looking for.
If you would like to spend money on a slip joint you can always contact Jim Burke or maybe an Anso.

Still, in general, custom slipjoints are less expensive than custom moderns. Most of my customs are cheaper than production knives by CRK, Hinderer, and Strider. Not to mention mid-techs like Holt, Koenig, etc. Yes, if you look hard you can find really expensive slipjoints. But they are the exception to the rule.

I spoke to three makers at a show here in town a few months ago that make really nice slipjoints. One of them makes really nice moderns as well but said he doesn’t enjoy the process. According to him the moderns take a lot of extra time and effort to tune the detent and lockup on top of worrying about overall fit and finish. He says the moderns get pretty frustrating to get right.
