I actually see it as 10. I particularly like no 10 yamashitas. My family did treasure hunting for a while in the Philippines trying to find where that guy buried it during WWII. I'll have to show this to my uncle.

I would guess that General Yamashita probably owned a number of swords. I know of one other in a private collection. It was made by Sadashige and the inscription on the nakago is loosely translated s "Army General Yamashita Hobun wields this sharp sword for the annihilation of our bitter enemy the US armed forces, crush many and destroy ten thousand". The nakago can be seen on pg. 151 of Sloughs book.
