So, I am new to this forum. But, I have loved knives since I was a little kid. Given some of the new information I've learned on this site I decided to take on a new project today before I had to go to physical therapy. I have a Kershaw link that has been sitting in a drawer for at least 2 years which has about half an inch of its tip broken off. The pictures show where I lined up the new profile that I wanted with a sharpie. I used my Black & Decker belt sander turned upside down 2 reprofile/reshape the blade. The overall process took less than 8 minutes with about 3 or 4 minutes on the Belt Sander and twenty to Thirty passes on the sharpmaker Diamond Stones. The final product with such a mirror edge was achieved by using my KME along with several STROPS and lapping somes that I created using Basswood, glass, and leather as well as high grit wet dry sandpaper all of which were purchased for under $20 at Hobby Lobby and Amazon. Needless to say, I am more than pleased. The final result is 16 DPS mirror polished. Like I said I'll post shortly how I created the strops and lapping stones.
