Here is a spyderco bug that i put some carbon fiber wrap on it. For just messing around and only taking about 5 minutes, i think it looks pretty cool. Sorry for crappy cell pics.

I think it looks much better than the plain Jane SS handles. Good job! I wonder if it would hold up well on a keychain like I've got mine on. I guess you could always put clear fingernail polish on it right?? Oh right, yeah, I don't have any of that stuff either...

The type of carbon fiber wrap that i had, is some sort of chemically released epoxy adhesive that is activated once you remove the backing. It is really strong, i could not pull it off the knife.

just wondering, did you have any more details on the CF wrap that you used? Like where you got it and what is the.. "brand?" This seems pretty interesting to me as I don't have to go and mix my own epoxy.

Thanks,
Kevin

Its 3d textured carbon fiber wrap, most commonly used for cars. I got it as a sample (about 2"x2") from Headlight Armor, just fill out a sample request and a few days you'll get a little piece in the mail. I also have some bigger sheets with different colors and textures that i got from 3m for free. All free carbon fiber like samples are great for knife mods.

wait so this is real carbonfiber or a sticker? How thick is it? I do a lot of CF/kevlar work (not for knife work but for other applications) and something on the size of a bug (I used one a lot when I use to work with horses and it did suprisingly well) doesnt seem like it would pratical.

The one i used from headlight armor is not real carbon fiber, it is some sort of nylon synthetic carbon fiber with an air released epoxy adhesive on the back (like an cray industrial car wrap stuff). But the stuff from 3m is real carbon fiber with an adhesive backing. Thickness, its really thing, like 1/32 or 1/64", but you can heat it up to make it extremely pliable. As far as practicality, well its a tiny keychain knife, i use it for small stuff, letter opener and small packages. The carbon fiber i put on took absolutely nothing away from the knife, if anything it made it more practical because it gave it a texture for more grip.

just ordered one, thanks for the pics

was there enough for both sides? or just the one as showed in the pic?

There was enough to do both side and more. Both sides are carbonized, just not pictured. The little sample from headlight armor is enough to do like 2-3 little bugs for both sides.

Just finished mine up :D
Also got a white sample of the same pattern, gotta get a matching tuxedo pair of bugs
