I know this is an obscure reference, but my Gram had a model 591. Does anyone else have one? I shot hers a few times, but ammo is almost impossible to find. I wouldn't mind buying a box or two, just to pass along.

It was a 1970s attempt at a sub .22 caliber for varmints. Kind of like the .17 that is popular now a days.

saw some 10 years ago at a gun show $50. for a box of 50.i had one ,someone did me a favor and stoled it over 20 years ago.if other gun or bullet mfg.had picked up on this round it would still be popular today.
it was a very accurate and deadly round on varmits with it's banana peel bullet.
it was not a meat saver round ,jack rabbits ,skunks were usually cut in too.
i have a 17 but have not shot any thing but paper so cannot compare the two

Here's an EXPIRED auction for some 5mm Remington. http://www.auctionarms.com/search/displayitem.cfm?itemnum=8355693

Now, Quality Cartidge is advertising a very interesting conversion that permits firing reloaded centerfire ammunition, with only temperary modifications to the firearm (thus no collector value is harmed). It is a little pricey, initially, but it should pay for itself after a couple boxes of ammo after a couple boxes. I have no experience with this product, but it sounds pretty cool!
