It seems like it had taken forever to get these finished and I also have a bad habit of starting something new before I finish a knife I'm working on. I posted some Mini-Muk neck knives in the for sale section a few weeks ago and got requests to make more. I think any Nesmuk design should have natural handle materials but I had made one for a local LEO that wanted hunter Orange G-10 and got requests for more. OAL on this is 5 3/4" to 6" except for the one on the end at it's 7"OAL.

All are 1/8" O-1 with heat treat by me., Bocote, Elk Antler, smooth orange G10 (2) and textured orange G-10)

Leather neck sheaths are hot-waxed. the kydex sheaths have a kydex belt clip and are Tek-Lok compatible.

Next up is a Mini drop point EDC (1/8" O-1) and it's big brother, a 9 1/2" OAL clip point (3/16" O-1, tapered tang) with textured G10 scales.

The last one is similar to the clip point above, but with several brass pins and some nice desert ironwood, sort of a dress bowie, I guess ( 9 1/2" OAL, 1/8" O1, white and black G10 spacers)

I'm not sure what happened here. I've had blades warp before but never crack like this and this was 2 the same day. I broke one of them and tried to take a pic of the grain but it was too blurry to see anything and it's too dark for more pictures.

My knives are meant to be users So i did a little fire prep with one of the Mini-Muks today. The spines on the Muks are left squared off for use with a firesteel.

hey Randy sorry for the bad news that really bites... stupid question, but I'm sure you had your oil heated?

really odd for 01 to do that...

Yes, teh oil was heated with a red hot rebar from the forge, just like I've done it before. I didn't have a thermometer in it but it was about as hot as I could stand to stick my finger in it, about like the hot water out of teh tap which is about 130+/-. But yes, it was heated. The only thing I can think of is that water got in teh oil, maybe.

andre1, check your PM's.

FYI, knifemaking is my second job/hobby. My first job pays the bills and I'm not always able to check this site every hour. Give me 1/2 a day to get back to you, please.

Balldboy, shipped out today, should be there by Thursday or Friday. I don't know about cake, but my muks should be great for spreading peanut butter. :)

Sorry Randy,
I was just exited to be able to get one of your knives.
Payment has been sent.
thanks

IF someone is considering a MUK or any of the other patterns available from Randy...they will not be disappointed.
I'm all MUKed up with no place to go until dawn tomorrow.
