I thought I'd put all these new ones in one thread. Been practising my hollowgrinding and so far so good (IMHO)
I only have a 3inch contact wheel, so the blades are all very small. The hollows are also thus, very deep and I have combined it with a tall-ish convex edge. I am waiting to get a grinder with an 8inch contact wheel so I can hollowgrind bigger knives.
I still prefer flat grinds for a consistently fine edge and overall strength, but this seems to work for small utility knives or for detailed work, eg.- caping knives etc. It also gave me the opportunity to experiment with handle styles and techniques. I made these knives quite quickly so hope to sell them for relatively low prices. All are very basic patterns.
Sorry it makes the photos take a while to load unless you have cable. Thanks for looking and any coments appreciated. Jason.
PS.- the antiqued finish on the Ringed Gidgee is done by beadblasting the finished wood before final finishing.
