5 ton punch press for forging?

I recently came across this punch press locally for sale, very cheap, and I'm wondering if something like this could be used for forging?

It seems to have been modified to run continuously, at about 100BPM I would guess.

Heat up a 1/2" bar of steel and try it out. For light work, maybe???
It may want to jump around a bit, so stay alert.

At 100 BPM that sounds almost more like a power hammer? As Stacy said, try it out and see what happens
