Near as I can tell , it is a Western Camper S-901. Unsure of year.

Walking thru a community yard sale , lady had a handful of slipjoints , mostly really cheap ones that were pretty beat. This one looked worse for wear when I picked it up , she wanted $10 , then she pitched $7.50...I offered $5 and she accepted.

All I did was hit it with wd40 & break free , scrubbed the outside and inside with a small toothbrush and some q-tips , oiled it with some Rem oil and blew it out really good with compressed air , touched up the edge and she lives for many more years of service.

Really dig this one.

Not as good as going to Blade , but a whole lot cheaper ! :D

Wow John, ya did really good there!:thumbup:

Is it a carbon steel blade or stainless? Old scout knives are great to have around.

Carl.

Great-looking knife, nice find

Yeah , its a keeper....blade is stainless.

Also Marked Western ( though it is scratched thru heavily ) with Boulder Colorado Made in USA underneath...

Other side is marked 901 Stainless Camper....wish it was high carbon ;)

Good buy! I picked up a 901 a few months back. The springs on mine are decidedly on the weak side, but I love it just the same.

The main blade has great snap . The other 3 blades have great snap as well , but are nail busters to get open. ( of course I have no nails to speak of ! )

Very cool find! I never get lucky at yard sells. I only find Chinese garbage lol.

Nice score man! I have the exact same knife in the same condition, my brother gave it to me after finding it in a culvert pipe at work. Great little camper, smooth as butter after a good cleaning.

Thats a great find! very unusual score on the tang stamp though! looks as if it were ground out...factory 2nd perhaps?

A real great looking knife, Sir. That´s some very nice find, especially for that low cost you got a real gem, though the thing with tang stamp is a little strange (at least to me).

I seldom get lucky at yard sales either...though this trip me and my sons all scored.

Middle son scored a green glass insulator from the 50's ( he collects those as well as old bottles ).
Oldest son scored a 1940's Coronet for his musical instrument collection.

Seems my sons have also acquired the taste for the older simpler traditional pleasures in life.

My oldest son also asked to swap out his framelock folder for a lockback from my collection when he goes back to college at the end of summer ( no worries , they can carry up to a 5" blade there ) , there is hope for today's youth ! ;)

Very nice find indeed.

You should see the tat taht I find for that price. A worn blade, that may as well be a punch, and a 'stump where there once was a blade, is the usual.

Great score. I wonder if it was a factory second with the "Western" Ground out?
