Hey all,

I'm a couple of months away from celebrating my 5th year anniversary here on the forums. It's been such a long ride. Have seen and read much. Experienced natural disasters, losses, births, up and coming bladesmiths...

I would greatly appreciate if some of the ol' folk chime in just to say hello and intro yourselves to the newcomers.

Here's to last man standing and the continuation of H.I.

Here, Here!!!! On the 17th of next month it will be my eighth year here so I guess that counts me among the old timers.;) :p I suppose in two years after that when I'll have been here ten years, with the Powers That Be willing, it'll make me a fixture around here.
Not so sure I like the sound of, "Fixture" as a toilet is a fixture but in two more years I'll just be that much crustier and moldy so I suppose it fits. :grumpy: :o ;)

l started out window shopping and reading reviews, and liked this place so much l decided to stick around.

Glad l have had the pleasure to meet ya'll.

Yeah, yeah, crustier...like that could happen!:D

Happy anniversary, Dave. Keep on truckin'

Good for you Dave! I remember you as one of the true Kukri Sharks from way back, and there were many days you gave me and everyone else some hellacious fits on the DOTD. :D As I recall, you seemed to have a knack for snagging every piece of osage orange that came on a knife for a good while. ;)

Just 3.5 years for me next month, but I hope to make it a good while longer.

Congrats on your 5 year Anniversary!

Norm

Hey Dave!
Congrats on the five year mark!
Stick around for a bit why don't you.:D

Welcome to the newbies...soon enough you'll be regulars. It's always good to see new names posting! Ask questions! Post opinions! post pics! We really like pics!!:p

Yvsa can be crusty, I'll be moldy.:D

Hi Dave!
You and I came about the same time. You got me curious so I checked and my first post was 3/1/2002. My oh my how time flys! Good to see some of the "old timers" still around. Take care bud.

Steve

Noobs should be careful...my first post was 11-11-2003 and look what happened.

Salutations to the Khukuri King of the Northern Realm. :D

Norm, you should see Dave's high-rise suite up there- he's got Osage Orange cabinets, Osage Orange paneling, Osage Orange furniture.... it's all just a swirl of exotic wood grain.

So we shouldn't begrudge him those cool, exotic Osage Orange khuks... which have never again been seen.  :p ;) :D

Mike

Man, congrats. Thats a lot!

Congrats, Dave. Just curious - is there an official definition of a HI forum "old timer"? (I hope to be included in that group one day - one year and counting.) :)

A fixture often taken for granted and under appreciated. We can live with out them but life would not be the same.

Thanks for the wisdom and experience of the 'Old timers' whose knowledge and Patience is Always appreciated.

Nope...no official definition of "old timer" here. Not even an un-official one.

Just keep posting and eventually you will know and be known.
You'll reconize posters by their avatar and know what kind of post it will be before you even read it. You'll know what their interests are and how their familiy is doing. The internet is HUGE and yet you choose to post here...I appreciate that.

Congrats.Dave!
You have come far pilgram. Was it worth the effort?

What effort.

Bad Jeramiah Johnson referance.

Hi, I'm Kurt and I'm a khukaholic... wait, wrong thread. :foot: ;)

I guess the better part of eight years puts me in the old-timer group; which is actually pretty ironic considering that eight years constitutes a third of my lifetime. Damn, it has been a while!
