Hey guys and gals,

I find myself in the market for a fixed blade around that length, something I can beat like a rented mule. Trouble is no matter how hard I search, I cant come up with anything. I figured I'd start up a thread here incase theres any obvious choices I'm missing. Already have the run of the mill 7" KA-BAR, but I wanted something a little shorter. Not alot of flexability on the price unfortunatley, maybe $55 if its super good, $60 if it's made of unobtanium sandwiched in M4.

Two that come to mind are the Buck Nighthawk (regular and short version) and the Buck 119. Both have been around for a long time, have good reps, and are in your price range. Good luck!

+1 on the Nighthawk. Gerber Profile or Big Rock maybe? Glock Field knife. Cold Steel Bushman (7") or G.I. Tanto (6"?) You might be able to find a pair of these for under $50 even.

Edit: Condor Rodan, that is the one.

I just got a Condor Rodan. For $25 it's a great knife. It took about 10 minutes on the DMT diafolds and a bare leather strop to bring it to a razor sharp edge. Slices through thin, glossy, catalog pages effortlesslyw/o a snag.

The sheath allows you to bury 80% of the blade & handle inside. I'm liking it.

i like the Buck 102, a 4" blade doesnt seem quite as "spooky" by the GP, and you can get it with cocabolo grips that really dress it up for a small additional fee.

ranger rak, shank, and shiv all are under $60 (well the rak only under 60 with a para handle)...
