I've got $50 bucks to spend(including shipping), what would you guys get? Knife, gear, other. Thinking about a Cold Steel Hawk of some sort perhaps. Let me know what you would do, I am open to suggestions.

Cheers,

Doesn't really matter what we would get ... what gear do you need ? that would narrow it down a bit.

It really depends on what you want.. I would, personally, buy a Condor if the choice was a knife. Otherwise, there is a ton of affordable gear for under $50. Just depends on what you really want..

I've just ordered one so I'm gonna be biased !!!

Not sure what you have/don't have, but if you don't have a good hook knife I would go with that.

I have wanted on of Del Stubbs open sweep hook knives for a while. I have one of his standard spoon knives, as well as his sloyd knife and they are fantastic. Forged O1 steel, and great handles. Just an idea.

The one on the very right> :)

Condor Hudson Bay, Mora Allround. There's option #1.
Fiskars Hatchet, Vic OHT. There's option #2.
Gerber sliding saw, Mora Clipper, Ranger firesteel from Firesteel.com. There's option #3.
Mix and match as needed...

For $50, I'd be looking at how I could accessorize, maintain, or make what I've got better.
Stuff like:
Hydration bladder and ITW strap Dominators for a pack.
Better stuff sack/s, or accessory pouches for specific gear.
New stove, or water filter.
Supportive insoles, and good socks.
Nice baselayer, or headgear.
Sleeping bag liner.
Strops/paste, maybe a diamond stone.
Spare battery, or super-duper memory card for a camera.
Custom kydex for a favorite knife or two, or custom scales.
Battery charger, Pelican case, extra rope, cord, or webbing, performance wash for wool, softshells, baselayers, jackets or sleeping bags, DWR spray for shells, gaiters, new sleeping pad, better compass, trail maps...

get a piggy bank.
put all $$ in until you have enough to get what you really want/figure out what you really want.
