Well,I got a clamshell for Christmas,110fifty year model with h leather sheath the knife itself is perfect in every way, razor sharp, blade centering is right on,blade grinds are perfect, even the handles are matched nice and look great.here is the bad part, the new flat style leather sheath sucks a donkey's ass.i couldn't even put my belt through the loop, and the leather is so thin I could tear the flap off if I tried.the knife doesn't even fit in it properly, also they cheated out and don't include the little felt snap cover anymore.

When will buck get back on track ?why send a piece of crap sheath with a knife that needs to be carried in a sheath?time to bring back the in house sheath making,I'm sending this sheath back to buck with a note ,I want a loop sheath that I can at least use, this rides so close on my belt that the top of the flap cuts into my side..all this just to save money, come on buck '!!!!,,:jerkit:

I'm another that absolutely doesn't care for the new sheaths.
I very rarely carry one of the older/new sheaths because the location of the loop makes the knife ride to high.
I use the older 1970s sheaths mostly. They ride nice and low on the belt.

This is quite interesting to learn. You sent me looking - I bought three of the 50th Anniversary Buck 110 Folding Hunter's this year; two were packaged in clam-shells with nylon sheaths (actually pretty decently made sheaths). The third Buck 110 I bought came packed in a box dated 1/2/2014 with a leather sheath; the modern, Mexican made ones from the last dozen or so years with high riding belt loops. I use that type and it works for me fine - carries the knife up and away from pushing against me when I sit up against a tree trunk or up in a deer tower stand. I haven't seen one of the latest with the flat style loop, but I will buy a few extra with the old style loop from a local hardware store that stocks extra's. I own an old Schrade USA LB7 that came with the type of belt strap you describe; nice knife, but I always despised the trouble of getting my belt threaded through the sheath loop. Sorry to learn Buck went to this type design. OH
