Hello! Eric Isaacson was kind enough to allow me to repost this information. Please accept my deepest apologies for not following the rules of your forum. I certainly did not intend to conduct myself improperly or show any disrespect to the community.
First, to properly introduce myself. I am the metals and jewelry editor for a publishing company, Lark Books, which is owned by Barnes & Noble. We have been producing a high-quality series of "500" books for many years. Please visit our website at www.larkbooks.com to see samples of the books.
My interest in custom knifemaking is new. Although I have been an editor metalsmithing books for almost seven years, I was unaware of the knife field until I saw a lecture on custom knives two years ago. I was blown away by the intense creativity and extraordinary technical achievements I found, and thought it would be a great subject for a book.
My only intention in producing this book is to document the work of today's great makers and to gain even more exposure for the field of fine knifemaking. Our books have incredible distribution both in the US and abroad, and can be found at most bookstores, libraries, internet retailers, and museum shops. Priced at $24.99, they are accessible to most consumers. Over the years, the 500 books have proven to be not only popular, but a great source of education and inspiration for the public.
The makers selected to be featured in these books retain all copyrights to their work. The photographers are credited for their images in the book. All film is returned to the maker after to book has been printed. Each featured maker receives a free copy of the book and a 40% discount on additional copies.
The original call for entries post follows. Please do not hesitate to respond with questions or comments. I am tremendously excited about this publication, and hope you are too.
With Kindest Regards,
Marthe Le Van
