Hey All,
Just thought I would let you know I got my copy of the new book 500 Knives. Not sure when it hits the book stands.
This book is NICE. Great pics of awsome knives!

Wow. Thanks for the good news, Mace. I'll be calling Marthe in a bit to find out more.

Sorry I didn't have more info for you guys.
The book was sent to me early because I have a couple of knives in it.
It will be well worth the $24.95!:D

As per Mace, these are probably just advanced copies for the contributing makers with production still scheduled for September. As of this morning, Borders Books and Barnes & Nobel are still quoting a September delivery.

I asked at my local book store today...(they cary the other books in the 500 series)....They said September too.

nice, I want one!! guess i'll have to wait

I've never really looked through this series. Good quality?

Hey, Guys,

Lark Books is sending advanced copies of "500 Knives" to all the makers who are featured. Just got mine today, and in my opinion, this book may be one of the best general publication books on knives yet.

The book is 8"x8", so the max photo size is only 5"x7", but the quality of reproduction is superb, as are the photos themselves. The variety covers the whole spectrum of custom and "art" knifemaking. I'll be looking at these photos a long time.

What sets this book apart, again in my opinion, is both the breadth of coverage, and the general audience it addresses. "500 Knives" will delight us fans, but will introduce the widest range of folks interested in art, craft, design, and hand work to the world of the blade.

That's great news John, and just what the custom knife community needs.

That's also a generous gesture in them giving that many copies away to the contributors.

Yes, I talked to Marthe LeVan the editor, and she, too, was happily surprised the pre-production copies were out and offered so quickly.

She's aware of this thread and would like to hear your honest feedback.

I've got a few copies heading my way. News when I do. :)

Is September still the projected date when the books will be available to the general public?

Kevin - I am told by Barnes & Noble (correction) and by one maker that the info they have been supplied with suggests a September 1 release.
